The October 3, 2016 edition of WWE RAW aired live on the USA Network from the Staples Center in Los Angeles, CA.

– RAW opens up with United States Champion Roman Reigns coming out to the ring. Reigns starts cutting a promo about how he is representing his bloodline in WWE, then he is interrupted by Lana. She says Rusev is officially challenging Reigns to a rematch for the U.S. Title. Reigns tells Lana to get Rusev to tell him in person, Lana tells Reigns to get to hell, and with that Rusev comes out. Reigns and Rusev brawl around ringside. They roll in the ring and Reigns goes for a Superman punch, but Rusev catches him and spears him into the corner. Rusev goes for a big boot, but Reigns ducks and lays out Rusev with a right hand. Rusev rolls outside, and Reigns goes to springboard off the ring steps for a Superman punch but Rusev blocks it with a kick. Reigns falls into the fan barricade, then Rusev kicks him again and Reigns falls into the crowd. Rusev takes the U.S. Title belt and walks up the ramp, but Reigns comes out from behind him and lays Rusev out with a Superman punch. Reigns takes back his title belt, and says Rusev will get his rematch inside Hell In A Cell.

– Brian Kendrick def. TJ Perkins: This is a non-title match. They shake hands before the bell, but as soon as the bell rings Perkings drops Kendrick with a dropkick and stays on the offensive with a corkscrew plancha to the outside. Kendrick comes back with a big boot, then ties up Perkins’ hand in a piece of the turnbuckle and stomps on it. Perkins comes back with a perfect Frankensteiner off the top, but Kendrick is able to regain control with the Sliced Bread for a two count. Perkins gets Kendrick in the fireman’s carry position, but Kendrick rakes the eyes and gets Perkins in the Hook for the win via submission.

– Seth Rollins is backstage with Michael Cole for a sit-down interview. Rollins says he deserves a rematch because Owens was literally handed the Universal Title by Triple H. Rollins says he’s going to cancel the “Kevin Owens show” and prove the world that he’s still the man.

– Braun Strowman def. Chase Silver: After getting the win in a very short squash match, Strowman cuts a promo saying he’s tired of beating lesser competition. He tells Mick Foley to start booking him against some real competition starting next week, or he’s out.

– Backstage, Bayley wishes Sasha Banks good luck in her Women’s Title match against Charlotte tonight.

– Kevin Owens and Chris Jericho are out to the ring next. Owens tells Cole that he was terrible in his sit-down interview with Rollins, then starts cutting a promo on Rollins. Owens takes credit for injuring Rollins, then talks about how good of friends he is with Jericho. Owens says he asked Jericho to join him tonight because he wants him to be the special guest referee for his next match against Rollins. Jericho says Owens isn’t thinking about the big picture, and says that he and Owens are the best tag team in wWE and they should challenge the New Day for the tag titles. Owens says that sounds great, but Cesaro and Sheamus have a title shot next. Jericho says Cesaro and Sheamus aren’t best friends, so they should beat the New Day in a non-title match to earn their own title shot. Owens is hesitant, and Jericho says it’s not like he’s asking for an opportunity for the Universal Championship. Owens thinks it over, then agrees that they should go after The New Day. The New Days is out next to interrupt. Kofi says The New Day have the best friendship in WWE, not Owens and Jericho. Jericho puts Kofi on the list, then Big E makes fun of Jericho for being the only one of them without a championship belt. Big E has now made the list, and Xavier gets on the list for laughing. Owens says if The New Day won’t give them a title shot, they should get out of here. Owens says they jumped the shark seven months ago, and Xavier says by the looks of Owens he’s never jumped over anything. Jericho puts Xavier on the list a second time. The New Day accepts their challenge, and that match is coming up later tonight.

– Sheamus and Cesaro are shown backstage arriving at the arena and arguing with each other the whole time.

– Sami Zayn def. Titus O’Neil: Titus controls the opening minutes of the match and hits a big backbreaker. Sami Zayn clotheslines Titus then hits a t-bone suplex in the corner. Sami follows up with a big boot for the win in a short match.

– Cesaro and Sheamus are arguing in the locker room when Mick Foley walks in. Foley tells them to bond and get on the same page, and they can change the face of tag team wrestling.

– Luke Gallows & Karl Anderson def. R-Truth & Goldust: The Golden Truth gets in some offense on Anderson early on, but he eventually hits a flying kick on Goldust and tags in Gallows. Gallows works on Goldust, but Goldust comes back with his patented spinning powerslam, then Anderson and Truth get the tags. Anderson hits the axe kick on Anderson for a two count. Gallows tags back in and knocks Goldust off the apron, then they hit the Magic Killer on Truth for the win.

– Ashton Kutcher confronts Chris Jericho and Kevin Owens backstage. Jericho says he’s going to put him on the list, then gets made fun of for looking like Bon Jovi and losing to Fandango. Owens says That 70’s Show would have been better with him and Jericho. Kutcher and the other guy from That 70’s Show will be at ringside for their match with New Day. Jericho tells them to stay out of his business, or they’re going to get… it.

– Enzo and Cass are in the ring with three women and a table with a curtain over it. They talk about WWE’s partnership with the Susan G Komen foundation, and the three women in the ring with them are cancer survivors who won a contest. They present them with some honorary championship belts and head to the back.

– Chris Jericho & Kevin Owens vs. Xavier Woods & Big E: Ashton Kutcher and Danny Masterson are on commentary for this one to promote their show on Netflix. Xavier hits a flying clothesline early on for a two count on Jericho. Jericho appears to be bleeding from his nose, and Owens wiped the blood away with his t-shirt. Owens and Big E tag in, and Big E drops Owens with a flying shoulderblock. Jericho tags back in and goes to work on Big E and levels him with a dropkick. Owens tags in and hits a cannonball in the corner on Big E.

– Xavier Woods & Big E def. Chris Jericho & Kevin Owens: Ashton Kutcher and Danny Masterson are on commentary for this one to promote their show on Netflix. Xavier hits a flying clothesline early on for a two count on Jericho. Jericho appears to be bleeding from his nose, and Owens wiped the blood away with his t-shirt. Owens and Big E tag in, and Big E drops Owens with a flying shoulderblock. Jericho tags back in and goes to work on Big E and levels him with a dropkick. Owens tags in and hits a cannonball in the corner on Big E. Xavier tags in and hits a cross body off the top on Jericho for two. Owens tags in and hits a DDT on Xavier for a two count of his own. Seth Rollins’ music hits and Rollins comes out to the stage and distracts Owens. Owens turns around into a kick to the face from Xavier. Big E and Jericho get the tags and Big E hits a series of belly to belly suplexes. Big E goes for a splash but Owens comes in and superkicks him. Xavier throws Owens outside then hits a suicide dive over the top onto the Universal Champion. Back in the ring, Big E drops Jericho with an elbow then hits a splash. Xavier tags in and Jericho puts him in the Liontamer. Rollins climbs on the apron and distracts Jericho long enough for Xavier to tag in Big E. They hit the Midnight Hour on Jericho for the win.

– Stephanie McMahon cuts a promo on Seth Rollins in the back over interfering in the previous match. Rollins says Triple H screwing him over is the second-biggest mistake he’s never made, next to marrying Stephanie.

– Tony Nese def. Rich Swan: Swan hits a big dropkick early on, but Nese takes control of the match with a kick to the back of the head while Swan is talking to the ref. Nese goes up top, but Nese jumps up from the mat for a Frankensteiner on Nese. Swan hits a dropkick for a two count, then Nese comes back with a pumphandle piledriver for the win.

– Cesaro & Sheamus def. Raul White & Mark Carradine: Sheamus and Cesaro dominate the opening moments of the match, while arguing with each other and tagging themselves in. Sheamus hits the Irish Curse backbreaker on one of them (Cole never says which jobber is which), then Sheamus hits the Brogue Kick for the win in a short match.

– Dana Brooke confronts Bayley in the back and Bayley lays her out. Dana sells a leg injury, and Cole tells us she is receiving medical attention for it.

– Sasha Banks def. Charlotte: The Women’s Title is on the line in this one. Charlotte controls the opening moments of the match and works on the injured back of Sasha. Charlotte gets a couple near-falls early on in the match. Sasha comes back with a big boot and a double knee drop for a two count. Sasha hits another double knee strike then goes to the top rope. Charlotte knocks her off and follows up with a big boot to Sasha’s back then one to her face for a near-fall. Charlotte goes for a superplex off the top, but Sasha pushes Charlotte down to the mat then hits the double knees for a near-fall of her own. Charlotte throws Sasha outside then hits a corkscrew moonsault off the top rope all the way down to the floor on Sasha. Back in the ring, Charlotte hits the Natural Selection for another two count. Charlotte throws Sasha against the ropes and Sasha swings around her and gets her in the Banks Statement. Charlotte tries to escape but Sasha locks it back in and Charlotte taps out. Sasha celebrates with the Women’s Championship in the ring
